Littleton Public Schools (LPS) is celebrating a major milestone, as newly released district performance framework data from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) officially grant the district Colorado’s highest accreditation rating: Accredited with Distinction!

LPS is proud to be one of only two metro area school districts—among just 12 statewide—to earn this top honor. Results from last spring’s Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) and PSAT/SAT exams demonstrate that LPS students continue to significantly outpace statewide averages, with exceptional achievement and student growth across all grade levels.

Rising Achievement Across the District
Overall proficiency rates reflect steady momentum, with LPS students demonstrating success in key learning areas:

  • Districtwide Growth: Districtwide math proficiency saw a substantial 4.1% gain, rising to 58.4% in 2026 (up from 54.3% in 2025). English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency also moved upward to 62.1% (up from 61.9% in 2025).

  • Elementary Math Success: Following the districtwide implementation of a new elementary math curriculum during the 2024–2025 school year, student data reflects strong gains in math fundamentals across primary grades, laying a solid foundation for higher-level learning.

  • Middle and High School Momentum: Middle schools demonstrated notable growth in math, while high school PSAT and SAT results showed steady gains in reading, writing, and math—with LPS high schoolers growing at a faster pace than most neighboring metro districts.

  • Progress Across All Student Groups: Growth trends across CMAS and PSAT/SAT exams reflect encouraging progress for all student groups, with notable gains among students with individualized education programs (IEPs) and minority students.

Understanding the State Assessments and Accreditation
The CMAS serves as Colorado’s annual gauge of student academic progress for 3rd through 8th graders in ELA, math, and science. For high schoolers, the PSAT (9th and 10th grades) and SAT (11th grade) measure college and career readiness aligned with Colorado Academic Standards.

Together, these measures feed into CDE’s District Performance Frameworks. Earning Accredited with Distinction places LPS among an elite group of school districts across Colorado that systematically exceed state standards for academic growth, achievement, and post-secondary readiness. LPS educators use these state results alongside regular classroom assessments to tailor instruction to individual student needs and continuously evaluate curriculum effectiveness.
